Joint-Working General Agreement made this

day of

moon

of the 2nd. year of Hsuan Tung (English Equivalent

1910) between Leung, Head of the Railway Department

of the Board of Communication on behalf of the Chinese Section of

the Canton-Kowloon Railway i.e. from Canton to Sham Chun (herein- -after called the Chinese Section) and Sir F. D. Lugard, Governor of Hongkong on behalf of the British Section of the Kowloon- Canton Railway i.e. from Kowloon to the border of the British leased territory (hereinafter called the British Section).

Whereas on the 23rd. day of the 1st. moon of the 33rd. year of Kwong Shui (English equivalent 7th. March, 1907) the Board of Foreign Affairs of China made a loan convention with the Anglo-Chinese Corporation Limited. And Whereas Section 18 of the said Convention provides that if in future the Railway from Canton to the border of the British leased Territories Kowloon,

should be connected with the town of Kowloon, the agreement for joining the two sections should be drawn up by the Viceroy of the Two Kwong Provinces and the Governor of Hongkong. And Whereas by the same loan Convention, the duties and rights of the Viceroy of the Two Kwong Provinces are vested in the Head of the Princi- -pal Railway Department appointed by the Government of China; Now this joint-working agreement is made to afford facilities for running through trains and selling tickets in respect thereof. The following are the general regulations which have been mutual-* -ly agreed upon:-

(1). There shall be two classes of trains covered by

this agreement, viz.;-

(a). 'Through Express Train' which is a train that can

run from one section to the other.

(b). 'Sectional Slow Train' the running of which is

confined to its own section only.

(2). When the Chinese and British Sections are joined

together at Shamchun, the interchanges connected with the traffic
